Patrick Jane, is an independent consultant with the California Bureau of Investigation (CBI), who has supernatural skills of observation of crime scenes and a long and astounding track record for solving serious crimes. Outside the Bureau, Jane is notorious for his past as a psychic medium, whose special abilities he now admits have been a fake. However, serious Senior Agent Teresa Lisbon resists having Jane in her unit and interchanges between reluctantly admiting Jane's usefulness and objurgating him for his theatrics and blatant lack of boundaries.
